Chapter of the Swan- The Silent Swan Ch. 6

Duck had been “silenced” for half an hour now. She started to feel off and, of course, coughed up a storm on the school grounds with several people around. Fakir had moved her out of sight and Uzura had distracted everyone else. After all, if this kept up people would get suspicious.

Fakir and Duck had run to the library while “Arasah” was whispering random gossip to random people, which to put it simply explained all the shouting outside. Duck looked down at the table. She had been the first to lose her voice. What would happen after her?

“What’s the point with her?” Uzura asked, cutting through Duck’s thoughts. She looked up. “It seems that Drosselmeyer is forcing us to…die for each other’s sakes. There’s a possibility…” Uzura trailed off. Her eyes flickered to Fakir for a second and she chuckled. Fakir blushed and glared at her.

“Anyway, we had better keep an eye out for that rat with wings,” Mytho said, utter hatred in his voice. Had a heart shard taken over or something?

As the group of friends left the library, the commotion was still outside. Shouts of accusation that started from “Arasah’s” mouth were flying. Duck caught sight of Pique, who was screaming at Hermia, and Lilie, who was actually dancing around in glee. “Damn, what rumors did you spread, Arasah?” Fakir said. Uzura smirked, purple eyes shining. “I’ll never tell. And that reminds me…stay away from Femio for a while.” “Wait-what?” Fakir was suddenly horrified.

“So, what are we supposed to do?” Rue asked in a dark corner of a hallway. “I…guess we see what happens?” Mytho answered, rubbing the back of his head. Duck nodded in agreement. “But if we just wait around, someone else could--” Uzura started. “Nothing’s going to happen to anyone,” Fakir said strongly.

“Oh, don’t be so sure, my foolish descendant,” Drosselmeyer said in Uzura’s head, though in such a way Uzura wasn’t sure if he had wanted her to hear that. Either way, she responded. “If you do anything to hurt them again, I’ll made sure that you’re not dead anymore—just gone.” “Say what you like, my little puppet, but I won’t hurt them the way you will,” Drosselmeyer responded. “I. Will NEVER. Hurt them.” Drosselmeyer chuckled. “Whatever you say, Arasah…” Drosselmeyer said, mocking Uzura with her alias.

Uzura fell to her knees, making it obvious what just happened. “F-Fakir, be c-careful,” she said weakly. Fakir shook his head and helped her up. “That old man…” But Uzura wouldn’t let it go. “P-please, please promise me you’ll be careful.” Fakir nodded.

“I promise.”

This time, everyone was sleeping where they lived, with Duck and Fakir at the smith’s and Uzura, Rue, and Mytho in their dorms.

Duck awoke to a strange sound. She still couldn’t speak, which irritated her. She, due to fear of what the sound might be, walked cautiously. She went to knock on the door to Fakir’s bedroom, just to fall forward. If she had her voice she would’ve yelped. The door was…open? Duck silently walked forward. Fakir always kept the door closed. She finally reached the lamp. She turned it on and turned her head towards the bed.

Fakir wasn’t there.

Duck’s eyes widened. If Fakir wasn’t there…

Duck bolted out the door; out the house. She had to find Fakir before he did something. She didn’t even care what it meant if Fakir was the one that would attempt to die. All she could see was that raven telling Fakir in her voice to die.

There was that noise again. Slowly and full of dread, Duck turned around and looked up. There, on the roof, was Fakir. Duck attempted to scream at him, just to remember to her horror that she couldn’t speak. Then, she heard those horrid words:

“I shall do whatever you say, voice of my heart.”
