You know me.
I’m that kid that everyone stares at on the street.
I’m that person that gets the awful messages on Facebook.
I’m the one that has been told “God hates you.”

You know me.

Even if you’ve never met me, I’m known worldwide.
“That freak.”
“Man-hater.”
“Dyke.”

It never ends.

But I own a bold face.
When they say “God hates you”
I say “Why am I here, then?”
They shut up.

But sometimes it gets to me.

There are times when the taunting…
The names…
The emails…
Make me miserable.

I go to her.

She’s the one that tells me
“It’ll be alright.”
The one that hugs me and loves me.
No matter what.

I hear it’s not just me.

I heard that the same story goes for
That boy on the other side of town.
But his boyfriend left him
In fear of being outed.

But not just him.

That one girl I know?
She’s called a slut.
It’s not her fault that she likes both boys and girls.
She’s been accepted by her parents though.

And along with her…

There are also the twins next door.
The two girls that live next to me.
But one of them is forced to wear pants
And is forced to cut her hair.

You know us.

The question is
Do you know how much it destroys us?
How we think about the way we were born?
Well I’ll tell you.

We’re proud.
HATERS NOT ALLOWED TO COMMENT.

I made this because, for anyone that doesn't know, everyone's celebrating LGBT pride. YouTube is, Google turns rainbow if you type something like "gay pride," and as of two days ago, gay couples get the financial benefits of other couples.

We prideful gays, the purse filled lesbians, and the one's in between, we cannot influence your own sexuality, but only the way you choose to face it.

If you just be straight this wouldn't be a problem.

1. I am straight, so this poem is more for friends of mine and others that go through discrimination.
2. Do you honestly think that if people had that choice they wouldn't become straight just to avoid other people's rudeness?

Usually I'd assume that you're a troll and ignore you, but congrats. I lowered myself to your standards because I'm in a bad mood today. May the Lord be with you, because you obviously need Him if you think any form of bullying is acceptable just because someone is gay, bi, etc.

If they choose to be straight they wouldn't have the attention would they? Am I a troll for not liking gays?

I know that arguing is futile, but I'll just say this.

I wish I could say you were just a troll, but I know you're not. I don't think you're a bad person for not supporting gay marriage, since your household was most definitely different than mine.

The reason I'm frustrated is because you blame them for being bullied. Whether you think being gay is a choice or not, NOTHING should ever be a cause for harassment. It's the same as say, blaming someone who's overweight for any reason (overeating, genetics, etc.) for being bullied. Calling someone a, excuse me other commenters that see this, dyke would be the same as calling me a nigger. It's uncalled for. That's the real reason I wrote this poem.

And P.S., most don't strive for attention. I have quite a few LGBT+ friends that would probably punch anyone that called attention to their sexual orientation/gender identity. They just want equality, and then acceptance. Then they wouldn't bring it up so often.

Wow. This is amazing. I just got the slightest chills running down my back. The build-up, the impact. Wow. You took an unfortunate reality & turned it into a meaningful work of art. Kudos.

I'm glad you liked this poem so much! Just over two years later, and I'm glad people still enjoy reading it.

& the ending makes the struggle seem worthwhile- which it is. I love it. I love the triumph. The dignity. The Pride.

It's one of those timeless pieces of well-construed artistry. It, somewhat unfortunately, accurately describes a lot that is dealt with by people on a daily basis. It's raw honesty draws people in. It's good.
Thank you.

Read statistics!
a. Homoxesuals hawe 3-6 time higher suicide rate then heterosexsuals.
b. 2 times higher crime rate (since they live wild life in gey bars, not humble life with family) + often narcissistic.
c. 55% of HIV in EU are homosexuals, Thats why homosexuals cant donate blood!
d. Homosexuals live, on average, significantly shorter than heterosexuals, because of disease and seriouse psychological problems!

Homosexaality is a mental illness:

Studies have found that GLBT youth attempt suicide more than 3 times more frequently than their heterosexual counterparts

A Canadian study estimated that the risk of suicide among LGB youth is 14 times higher than for heterosexual youth.

It is well established that there are high rates of psychiatric illnesses, including depression, drug abuse, and suicide attempts, among gays and lesbians. This is true even in the Netherlands, where gay, lesbian and bisexual (GLB) relationships are far more socially acceptable than in the U.S. Depression and drug abuse are strongly associated with risky sexual practices that lead to serious medical problems.

The only epidemiological study to date on the life span of gay men concluded that gay and bisexual men lose up to 20 years of life expectancy.

Homosexuality is ilegal in 76 countries.

Admittedly, I'm not LGBT either. I have a few friends that are, and I tried to see the world through their eyes.

I'm not sure whether I'm bi or lesbian yet; I'm tangled in love right now.. I do know, however, that LGBT discrimination led a close friend to attempt suicide. This is definitely something I am proud of you for writing.
